Video 01     My Reel
This is a compilation of clips from my favorite projects dating back to 2006.

Presented here in one-quarter scale, the original video was mastered in 852x480p anamorphic widescreen format for DVD with Dolby EX audio.

Video 02     Lotus Exige S — "Superhero"
There's something wonderfully sinister about a black-on-black Lotus Exige S that begs to be exploited, and after a few days gleaning photos and footage, I decided to try and create as much visual tension as possible using a mix of dramatically-lit slow pans and fast clips. As the music tempo builds, the viewer jumps back-and-forth through an alternating progression of moody, tinted stills and footage of a car rounding a corner at speed, then on to a sequence of heavily stylized profiles (interestingly, no one at Lotus has ever mentioned the devil horns...), followed by a reveal of the vehicle logo, and ending with a hero shot of the car against a reflective "LOTUS" as the finale.

Video 03     JVC Mobile Entertainment — "TURN ME ON" Viral Video Remix
Shortening any film without actually changing it is never easy, but sometimes it can be sexy — enter "TURN ME ON", an original video by filmmaker Steven Lippman for JVC Mobile Entertainment.

The original video is amazing (Steven shot it at 4K on a RED Camera, with SD editing by Gargantuan Films) but with a run time of nearly 3 minutes, it was 2 minutes too long for either web adverts or as a television commercial, hence the remix.

The remix script called for several text inserts to reinforce the product around which the video was shot (girls? what girls?).

After watching the video a few times I decided there was no way I was going to mess up Steven's work with overlays so, aside from the opening "TURN ME ON" tag, each message exists within its own 2-second bump, hard-cut into the video at appropriate moments in the story.

I created the 3-D semi-rotation of the head unit as both a finale to all the preceding action, and a device to emphasize the El Kameleon's video display.

In addition, I also created several Rich Media Ads for the campaign :

Video 04     Lotus — "Heritage" L.A. Auto Show Booth Video
When ad agency e2amp, Inc. designed the Lotus Cars booth for the Los Angeles Auto Show, they incorporated multiple 46-inch LCD flat panel displays from JVC as one of its key features.

Originally, the idea was to run a continuous unedited loop of Victory By Design's brilliant Lotus episode on the displays, together with some assorted footage produced by Lotus UK.

Problem was, the Victory By Design footage was way too long for a tradeshow booth, plus, no one would ever hear the narration over the crowds.
To fix things, we requested and received, the original anamorphic Digibeta's of the Lotus episode, which I then edited down to a scant 7+ minutes, including all-new graphics and a great new soundtrack created by Coupe Studios.

The new "Heritage" version was a huge hit, with Lotus attendees offering to buy copies of the DVD from Lotus on the spot!

Video 05     Mediastile — ID for the Sundance Film Festival
When Mediastile attended the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, they asked me to create a 10-second bumper in 720p HD for the occasion.

Who is Mediastile? Download a movie from NetFlix, Amazon's Unbox, or iTunes, and "Mediastile" is the content aggregator that delivers it to you.
In 2008, Sundance Institute partnered with Mediastile to provide ongoing digital distribution and encoding services to filmmakers, and is listed as the Official Digital Clearinghouse of the Sundance Film Festival.

NOTE: There is no audio track, so don't blame your speakers =)

Video 06     Bing "Sex and The City 2" promotional video
This clip was created for the wrap party of the New York premier of Sex And The City and was played as an endless loop on several HP machines.

The original video was mastered in 720p anamorphic widescreen format.

Drory Ben-Menachem, Director:

The Bing team asked us to help with a promotional video that was to run on a loop during the after-party for the movie premiere of "Sex and The City 2" in New York. Since Bing was one of the sponsors of the after-party, they wanted something that would be flashy yet relevant. Unfortunately we didn't have clearance to use clips from the movie itself, so we instead sourced stock footage that paid homage to the spirit of the movie. We also took on the challenge of "how do you add sex appeal to a search engine?"
Since we had to feature several of Bing's services over the course of the video specifically PagePreview, Travel, Shopping, StreetView and Local we drafted a story-scenario around the concept of "weekend shopping getaway". This allowed us to weave the featured services into the story-arc in a way that felt logical.

The video itself also needed to showcase the latest HP machines, since HP was also an after-party sponsor, so we used this opportunity to give the video a luxe-travel/fashion-show feel complete with epic audio. We even "blinged up" the Bing logo for the project something a little extra for the client.
